To work on forming policy is not an aim in itself, but it is an important measure in reaching our aims. Politicians refer to their wish to base the shaping of their policies on knowledge. Performing Arts Hub Norway spends much time in finding knowledge about independent performing arts, and based on dialogue with the whole sector of performing arts, PAHN contributes to shaping policy and production of knowledge.

The main purpose of Performing Arts Hub Norway (PAHN) is to promote Norwegian performing arts nationally and internationally, with emphasis on independent performing arts. The mission to promote the performing arts field is, as we see it, about contributing to building a sustainable industry, and to work for improved infrastructure and working conditions for independent performing arts. It is about strengthening the level of knowledge about performing arts in policy making both nationally and internationally.

We aim strengthen independent performing arts in Norway; locally, regionally and nationally. Independent performing arts represent a great diversity of performing arts expressions, aesthetic strategies, organizational forms and artistic processes. Access to international collaborations and presentations is deeply dependent on the policies and creating conditions nationally.

PAHN runs a network for artists, companies and organisations. This enables us work in a close and dynamic interaction with the performing arts environment that we exist for, and work with.

We work with political hearing statements, input for policy making documents, participate in political meetings and provide knowledge for policy making at all levels, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We seekcollaboration in the advocacy work where appropriate, and we maintain an ongoing dialogue with the performing artsfield in order to constantly anchor our political work.

PAHN is part of a strategic professional and political collaboration; Norwegian Arts Abroad (NAA). The network consists of organizations with the mission to promote Norwegian arts internationally and that are partnerorganizations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

NAA is: Music Norway, Norwegian Crafts, Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), Norwegian Literature Abroad (NORLA), Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA), Design and Architecture Norway (DOGA) and Performing Arts Hub Norway.
