JANUARY 1 5 TH, 2022

LIVE Broadcast from Tromsø International Film Festival to Syndicated (Brooklyn, NY), 1:00PM EST
(Here one must be physically present at the listening stations in either NYC, Baghdad, Kurdistan or Moscow.)

  • In collaboration with the award-winning Norwegian Theater Transiteatret-Bergen by Tore Vagn Lid, we present «03:08:38 States of Emergency». The performance will take place at the International Film Festival in Tromsø, and will now be live broad casted to The Syndicated in New York 15th of January at 13.00:

"I had not thought that a minute-by-minute theater performance from the terrorist attack on July 22, 2011 would be one of the most meaningful things I have seen in theater in a long time."

    ——————————————————

"03:08:38 – State of Emergency" is a kind of live movie recording. A reconstruction of the terrorist attack in Oslo on the afternoon of July 22, 2011, presented in real time and built on authentic radio broadcasts and audio recordings from that day. Second by second, a team of sketch artist, filmmakers and musicians work on our understanding of this devastating afternoon.

The performance in Tromsø will be a live experiment at the interface between film art and performing arts - which will be broadcast simultaneously from Haalogaland Theater / TIFF in Norway to "listening posts" in New York, Moskov and Baghdad.
    ——————————————————
Three hours, eight minutes and thirty-eight seconds was the time it took a young man to blow up a Norwegian government building and then execute young Social Democratic politicians at a summer camp. How did the world react? What was said outside Norway? How did different societies, different people react - not afterwards - but during such a state of emergency, where no one yet knew for sure about the scope, cause and motivation, where speculation went in all directions. And what can such a state of emergency reveal about a society's political reflexes, and about ourselves as politically acting individuals - then as now?
